If you’re wanting to boost your course sales with email marketing, here are 3 things you must know that will make your email campaigns more successful than anything else you’ve tried in the past.
I’ll also share some of my favorite tools that you can use to dial in your email marketing strategy - so you can write emails your subscribers actually want to read!
Let’s Dive In!
Tip #1: Learn how to build a targeted email list - FAST.
The first step to successful email marketing is building an email list of people who are interested in the content of your course. To do this, you have to get really good at building opt-in forms that you can send people who may be interested in your content.
An opt-in form Is just a simple web page and it’s only purpose is to collect email leads.
You’ve likely seen them before but here’s an example of what an opt-in form looks like:
Before you make your page public, make sure all the elements on the page look right on mobile and on desktop… And most importantly, make sure all of your buttons work so people can actually opt-in!
Once you’ve done that, make sure you integrate your page with your email marketing software.
Once you have this set up and ready to go.
I recommend you save this page and use it as a template for any other opt-in pages you create in the future.
This is going to save you hours of time. And it’s as easy as hitting copy, clone, or duplicate.
Now, every time you have a new freebie, or one of your videos starts getting a lot of views and people are asking for more information about something. You can quickly capitalize on those eyeballs and send them directly to this opt-in to build out your email list FAST.
Tip #2: Start Tagging people
If you use tip number 1. Then you’ll soon have a bunch of different opt-in pages and a lot of different ways that people can join your email list.
This is great, and to make it even better, you need to start tagging those people based on the opt-in form that they came from.
This is what that would look like...
Let’s say sally got on my email list because she got into my 5-day email guide. Which is a 5-day email course for small business owners who want to learn the skill of email marketing, or maybe don’t quite have the budget to hire an expert yet. So they need to do it on their own.
Once sally gave me her email info, I enroll her in the course and apply an imaginary tag on her contact that lets me know that she wants to want to learn how to do this on her own… At least for now.
On the other hand, We have Jesus. He’s a busy course creator who’s already making sales and doesn’t really care to write or come up with his own email system. So he’s looking for the best way to automate his email marketing.
He goes to my website and downloads a checklist outlining “5 red flags to look for when hiring an email marketing agency”.
Now, these two people are now in my email list. But they have completely different interests. That’s why I segment my email list, so that when I send an email. I know it’s going to be targeted, and relevant to the person I’m sending it to.
The best part about all of this is that you only have to set up tagging once. After that, your email service provider will keep doing it for all of your contacts automatically.
This leads me to my next point.
Tip #3: Use automation to your advantage.
Automation can be a powerful tool for saving time and scaling your email marketing efforts, but it's important to use it wisely. Set up trigger emails for important actions like abandoned cart reminders, and also make sure to email often to keep your subscribers engaged.
